americaneurosbmlover66613 If you're expecting run-of-the-mill symphonic black metal, this is not it; this is opera disguised as a symphonic black metal band. And oh, what a show it is! Each movement and transition is phenomenal, each song appropriately expressive, and I'd be lying if I said this album wasn't a ton of fun. Favorite track: Hiisi.

PKMetal Four great tracks of theatrical symphonic black metal! But imma be honest: there are also four tracks of ridiculous orchestral/narrative padding. These elements work well when integrated into actual songs (even if they stretch patience on occasion at 1min+) but standalone dialogue tracks backed by some tinkling strings and keys? Sorry, they just don't work.

Fortunately, the 4 metal tracks are outstanding! Favorite track: Hiisi.

about

The Ring of Coagula & The Ring of Coagula ΣΥΜ——
vrzn.bandcamp.com/album/solium-ardens-the-ring-of-coagula-the-ring-of-coagula

"We have been exiled from the realm borne with the crushing burden of all things that were once noble." An orchestra led by spirits who talk but utter no resolutions, who foresaw the End of Time but only contently fiddling according to the plan of Gods; about defeat, about conjuration, about an expedition --- downwards as the Tree of Life should be, with no inkling of the venomous blood passed along by their serpentine ancestors --- albeit they had long lost that cursed shape --- still gurgling in their streams of thoughts and reasons.

"For I know nothing,
(Gods' Own Reflections)
I shall foretell the seeds of all sins --- of the past and the future,
(Jezebel, Séance Calls for No Names, In Black and Gold The Spirits Left Their Marks)
My thoughts will come in flesh --- dirt as they will be; the Stars of Ancient Tongues --- our siblings of a different form --- will leave us behind once again
(Four Seas Perished, Whale of Florescent Steel, The Epitaphs of Lost Stars Forever Beyond Our Reach)"

Hence, Cycle | SOLIUM ARDENS, The Ring of Coagula

This second full-length album comprises eight tracks of an enigmatic dark symphony, is Urizen Society's culmination through seven long years of crafting. This ambitious and undoubtedly unique project has to a large extent, redefined the underground scene of Shanghai --- their music brings to the forefront the narrative coherence and theatrical expression (visual and sonic), in line with their approach to songwriting that draws heavily on classical symphony composition (for instance, they also pay homage to Philip Grass and Gyorgy Ligeti). Solium Ardens is thus a conceptual album with a storyline that winds through epic about war and death, about the divine wrath, about myths, love, destiny, and the cycle of civilization --- combining fierce Black Metal riffs with coiling symphonic sections, this album serves as a grandiose soundtrack for a tragedy of Armageddon.

We are honored to release this masterpiece as digipak CDs after our last collaboration on their previous EP Il Nia. There are two versions: 1. special edition - double CDs (the extra one includes a full-length and re-adapted orchestral version of this album), limited to 150 copies; 2. regular edition with one CD, limited to 200 copies. Both editions contain a hardcover digibook plus delicate lyrics sheets. Stay tuned!
